Full Description

Regaine For Men Extra Strength Scalp Foam (9 Months Supply) is the first and only clinically proven foam hair loss treatment for men. It works by increasing the blood supply to the hair follicles which helps to strengthen existing hair and stimulate secondary hair growth. The easy to use foam takes very little time to apply, means it seamlessly fits into your daily grooming routine. With Regaine Foam results may be noticeable in just 8 weeks, 9 out of 10 men say they kept or regrew their hair with Regaine Foam.

Understanding Natural Hair Loss:

First of all let’s look at everyday hair loss. On average, the adult head has 100,000 individual strands of hair and most people will shed between 40 and 120 of these per day as part of a healthy re-growth cycle.

What is Abnormal Hair Loss?

Is your brush or comb raking out more hair than usual? And are you also noticing thinning on top or perhaps a more pronounced hairline at the sides? Although it’s possible that this loss could be caused by a medical disorder, prescribed medication, poor nutrition, bad hair care techniques or severe stress, in 95% of cases the cause is hereditary – and is known as male pattern baldness, or androgenetic alopecia.

Is it happening to me?

If your plughole is filling up with more hair than usual, then unless you are going through a very stressful period in your life, the chances are you are looking at early signs of male baldness.

You could be losing hair from the crown and you are probably noticing signs of a receding hairline – possibly both

You’ve probably looked at other members of your family and noticed your hair is following a similar pattern to theirs. But it’s not necessarily the case you will follow the same pattern – your hair loss may prove to be less, the same or more

In some cases, baldness is due to medication, stress, poor nutrition, surgery and even hair care techniques

The good news is that if it's hereditary, you can help prevent further hair loss – starting today with REGAINE® Foam or Solution.

Now that you're prepared to do something about your hair loss, what sort of results can you expect using REGAINE® products?

Well, there are two factors at play when trying to regrow hair successfully with REGAINE®.

You need to:

  1. Use REGAINE® twice a day
  2. And be patient!

Think of REGAINE® as part of your routine and you’ll be on your way to seeing results. Just take note, they won’t appear overnight: it takes on average around 4 months before you see real regrowth.

REGAINE® Foam contains 5% minoxidil – the only clinically proven medicinal ingredient available over the counter for hereditary hair loss.

REGAINE® Foam can increase hair growth by four times as much as a placebo.

Proven to help stop further hair loss in 8 out of 10 men.

REGAINE® Extra Strength Solution also contains 5% Minoxidil – the only clinically proven medicinal ingredient available over the counter for hereditary hair loss.

How to use regaine:

STEP 1 – Part your hair, to expose your scalp, making sure your scalp is dry.

STEP 2 – Press the nozzle to dispense the topical foam – about half a capful.

STEP 3 – Rub the foam into the scalp and gently massage it throughout the affected area. Wash your hands and your done!!

Before styling your hair with gel or mousse, or going top bed, be sure to allow the solution to dry completely.

Regaine foam, goes on easily, dries quickly and shouldn’t interfere with your current hairstyling products.

Its easy to get into the REGAINE ROUTINE:

THREE things to remember:

ONCE in the evening, about half an hour before going to bed.

LEAVE roughly 12 hours between applications.

  • Always use the recommended 1ml dose (or 1g when using REGAINE Foam)
  • Any massaging of the scalp should be gentle to minimise hair breakage
  • If you use a comb, make sure it's got rounded, widely spaced teeth
  • Be patient – results won't happen overnight

  • Don’t get lazy with your routine. If you stop treatment, you will not only lose the hair that grew back, but you'll most likely revert to the previous pattern of hair loss
  • Don’t worry if you miss an application. Just keep to the routine of morning and night
  • Don’t worry if you notice some hair shedding during the first few weeks – this is normal and is a sign that your follicles are making way for new hairs
  • Don’t forget: regrowth takes time, so stick with REGAINE® Extra Strength Foam for 16 weeks and with REGAINE® Extra Strength Solution for a year.

What you can expect:

Here are some things you can expect to notice as you begin your REGAINE® routine:

During the first few weeks of use, there may be a temporary increase in hair shedding:

This is a good sign and means that the new hair growth cycle is beginning!

Older hairs you would have lost are making way for the new healthy ones. Eventually, new growth will appear.

Early hair regrowth is soft and downy, and will be barely visible.

With continued use of REGAINE®, new hairs should eventually appear with the same colour and thickness as the rest of your hair.

Above all, keep up your routine. Because real success doesn't happen overnight.

If you do not see results after 4 months of applying REGAINE® Extra Strength Foam (or after 1 year of applying REGAINE® Extra Strength Solution) twice a day to your scalp, you should discontinue the treatment.

How long does it take before REGAINE® starts to work?

This will vary. Clinical studies have shown that regrowth can occur as early as 8 weeks when using REGAINE® Extra Strength Foam or Solution. But it can take up to 16 weeks to see results. Just bear in mind, results will vary from person to person, so you just need to be patient.
When you start using REGAINE®, you may notice a temporary increase in hair loss in the first 2–6 weeks. This is entirely normal and is actually good news – it shows that your hair is shifting from a dormant phase to an active growing phase.

Will REGAINE® work for everybody?

No, there are several factors that may influence the effects of REGAINE®, including:

  • The predominance of hereditary hair loss in your family
  • The length of time you have been losing your hair
  • The specific type of hair loss condition you have
  • The area of hair loss on your scalp

However, REGAINE® is proven to stabilise hair loss in 4 out of 5 men.

How long will a bottle or can of REGAINE® last?

Based on the recommended dose, approximately 30 days. As you near the end of one bottle/can, make sure you buy your next pack so you don't miss any applications.

If I use REGAINE® more often will it work faster?

No. Your hair won't grow any faster or better if you apply it more than twice a day and you increase the risk of side effects.

How long should I keep using REGAINE®?

You should keep using REGAINE® for as long as you want to maintain the effect. If you stop using the product, you will lose the hair that grew back and will most likely revert to the previous pattern of hair loss.
If you haven’t seen any results after using REGAINE® Foam for 16 weeks (or after using REGAINE® Solution for 1 year), you should discontinue using the product.

What if I accidentally spill some on my face?

Don’t panic, there’s nothing to worry about: just wash it off with lots of cool water straight away.

What should I look for as a sign that REGAINE® is working?

You should begin to notice that you're losing much less hair. You might even begin to see new hair growth that may be soft, downy and lighter in colour than the rest of your hair. Over time, this hair should thicken and blend in with rest of your crop.

What happens if I stop using REGAINE®? Will I keep my new hair?

No. If treatment is stopped, you will not only lose the hair that grew back, but you will most likely revert to your previous pattern of hair loss. However, if you stop using REGAINE®, at least you won't be worse off than before.

Can I switch from REGAINE® Extra Strength Foam to REGAINE® Extra Strength Solution?

You should be able to switch if you prefer one format over another, as both contain 5% minoxidil.

If I wear a wig while I wait for new hair growth will it affect the results?

It hasn't been determined if this affects the regrowth rate with any REGAINE® products.

Will REGAINE® stop my hair turning grey?

No, we're not miracle workers. Sorry. Try a hair dye!

Can I use REGAINE® if I've already had a transplant?

No studies have been conducted to determine the safety and efficacy of REGAINE® for people having had a hair transplant, so, no, we don't recommend it.

Will REGAINE® affect the condition of my hair?

REGAINE® products can help strengthen and thicken your existing hair. There's no evidence that it will do any harm but there have been some rare reports of a slight change in colour or texture.

Will REGAINE® make my scalp more sensitive to the sun?

No. If you plan to be in the sun after applying REGAINE® we recommend you use headwear. It would also be a good idea to wait until REGAINE® is completely dry before putting a hat on as the product might stain the fabric.

Should I use a special shampoo while using REGAINE®?

It's not essential, but we do recommend using a gentle shampoo.

(Search for Alpecin Shampoo on PharmacyKwik)

Do I have to wash my hair before applying REGAINE® and if so, how long should I wait afterwards before applying it?

You don't have to shampoo before applying REGAINE® but if you do, make sure your scalp is completely dry before applying it. This is simply to ensure that REGAINE® won't be diluted or evaporate before it has been fully absorbed.

Can I continue my normal hair care routine, using conditioners, wax, etc. while using REGAINE®?

You should continue your hair care routine as normal, but choose your haircare products carefully. Gentle shampoos and conditioners suitable to your hair type are best and always rinse them out thoroughly. If using any sprays, gels, wax or mousse, make sure that the REGAINE® you're using is completely dry before applying.

Can I use a hair dryer while using REGAINE®?

You can use a hair dryer after shampooing, but REGAINE® should be allowed to dry naturally. If you use it to dry the medication the heat will cause it to evaporate before being absorbed into the scalp. Regular use of high heat can also damage your hair.

Can I go swimming after using REGAINE®?

Yes. But you should wait until the treatment is completely dry before taking the plunge. Don’t apply an extra dose of REGAINE® after swimming, wait until your next application.

Can I have my hair dyed or permed if I'm using REGAINE®?

Yes. Stick to your normal hair care routine but make sure you tell your hairdresser that you're using REGAINE®. Explain that any massaging of the scalp should be gentle to minimise hair breakage, and that if they use a comb it should have round, widely spaced teeth.

At what age can I use REGAINE®?

REGAINE® Foam is licensed for hereditary hair loss in men aged 18 to 49, and REGAINE® Extra Strength Solution for men aged 18 to 65 years.
REGAINE® Foam is intended for the younger market and the cut off age of 49 is based on the upper age limit in the trials submitted for license.

How can I help to prevent the foam from turning into a liquid?

It is important when dispensing the foam that the can is held vertically straight upside down to avoid the mixture turning into a liquid. If the can is held horizontally then the propellant is released too quickly, resulting in excess minoxidil liquid at the bottom of the can.

Can I use REGAINE on a receding hair line?

Yes you can use REGAINE if you are receding as this is typically the early stage of hereditary hair loss.

What is ROGAINE Foam?

ROGAINE is sold in the U.S.A and is simply another trade name for REGAINE. They are the same product and both are manufactured by McNeil Healthcare.

What are the common side effects?

Like all medicines, REGAINE for Men products can have side effects, although these don’t affect everyone and are usually mild.
