Our computer allows us to keep records of all your prescriptions dispensed by us. This helps us check for possible problems, such as interactions between medicines and will help us deal with any queries you may have.

Electrolade Rehydration Sachets Orange (20 Sachets): Rehydration Sachets Orange (Electrolade) contain rehydration salts consisting of sugars and salts (anhydrous glucose, sodium chloride, potassium chloride and sodium bicarbonate). They are used to replace body fluids lost as a result of acute diarrhoea.
Electrolade Multiflavour solution is both clear and colourless and should be drunk fresh. Unused solution should either be discarded or covered and put in the refrigerator for a maximum of 24 hours only. After this time excess solution should be thrown away. Ensure that the correct amount of water is added. Do not add extra sugar or salt. Diabetics should note the sugar content.
When must Electrolade not be used?
There are no absolute contra-indications to using Electrolade. However, it is necessary for medical supervisions in the presence of renal disease (kidney disease), including anuria (inability to pass urine) or prolonged oliguria (low amount of urine passed), severe and persistent diarrhoea and vomiting, inability to drink or retain oral fluid.
If symptoms persist for more than 24-48 hours a doctor should be consulted.
How to use Rehydration Sachets Orange (Electrolade):

To make solution: Add contents of one sachet to 200ml (7fl.oz) fresh, clean, drinking water. Stir to dissolve.
Adults: 200 to 400ml (one to two sachets) of reconstituted Electroade should be drunk after each loose motion. Up to 16 sachets may be used in 24 hours.
Children: 200ml (one sachet) of reconstituted Electroade should be drunk after each loose motion. Up to 12 sachets may be used in 24 hours.
Infants less than 2 years with severe diarrhoea or frequent vomiting should be seen by a doctor as soon as possible. Initially stop all feeds except breast feeding. Encourage the baby to drink Electrolade at 1-1½ times the usual volume of feed. One sachet should be dissolved in 200ml (7fl.oz.) freshly boiled and cooled drinking water. This solution must not be reheated. No milk (other than breast milk) or solids should be given during the first 24 hours. In breast fed infants, Electrolade should be given before the feed. The re-introduction of normal feeding should only take place when symptoms of diarrhoea are improving and should be added gradually to make up the total daily fluid requirements.
Special precautions for use:
The solution should be made up without extra sugar or salt. The sugar content of the solution should be noted in treating diabetic patients with gastro-enteritis. Making the solution more concentrated may lead to hypernatraemia (normally high levels of sodium in the blood). If it is too dilute, inadequate replacement may occur.
