Please return all unwanted medicines to the pharmacy where we will dispose of them safely.
NHS Health Advice and Self-Care
The pharmacist and our trained assistants are available for advice on all medicines and minor ailments. We can also give you advice on how to live a healthy life, for example, advice on how to stop smoking or healthy diets. Patient Medication Records
Our computer allows us to keep records of all your prescriptions dispensed by us. This helps us check for possible problems, such as interactions between medicines and will help us deal with any queries you may have.
We comply with the Data Protection Act and the NHS code of practice on confidentiality. If you want to discuss the records we keep, please ask to speak to the pharmacist.

How much Spatone can I take during pregnancy?
During the first trimester and post natal, one sachet can provide the average extra absorbed iron requirement of 2mg/d. During the second and third trimesters a mean iron absorption of 4 mg/d is required.
This may be provided by taking two sachets of Spatone which should help prevent the development of iron deficiency.
If pregnant or breastfeeding please consult your doctor or health care professional before taking any food supplements or medicines.
Directions:
Spatone Iron 28 is ideally taken diluted in orange juice in the morning on an empty stomach or in between meals. It is advisable to leave 30 - 45min between the consumption of iron supplements and the consumption of drinks (with the exception of water) and food.
Vitamin C (e.g. in a glass of orange juice) is well recognised to improve the body's ability to absorb iron.
If you can’t tolerate orange juice try apple, mango, pineapple, or tomato juice – all rich in Vitamin C but low in tannins. Spatone can also be taken neat or diluted in water.
If you don't want to take Spatone first thing in the morning you can also take it at night before going to bed.
During pregnancy you can safely take up to two sachets a day to keep your iron levels topped up.

The iron in Spatone is so easily absorbed, you need only take small quantities to get your entire average Actual Daily Iron Requirement.
This is how you avoid the common side effects like constipation, stomach irritation and headaches so often associated with taking iron.
You see it's not the iron you absorb which causes the side effects, it's the residual amount you're trying to excrete that causes the problems.
